Live local FAQ
How does it work?
Live local is a new platform enabling your business to sell digital prepaid vouchers to your customers. Once your business has registered you can log in to the Live local portal and start creating vouchers to offer to your customers.
Who can use the platform?
Live local is available to all Australian businesses looking to boost sales by selling digital prepaid vouchers.
How can I register and have my business listed?
You can register your business for Live local at https://livelocal.com.au/merchant-lp/
To begin the process of listing your business we need some basic business information including your address, website and ABN. We will also need some photos and a brief description of your business to help create your listing.
How do customer purchase vouchers from my business?
Customers interested in supporting their local businesses can search for digital vouchers by industry and location. Digital prepaid vouchers can be purchased for any amount between $5 and $100. Vouchers can be redeemed at any time within three years of purchase.
Is there a time limit on the redemption of these gift certificates?
When creating a voucher, you can set an expiry date for every voucher you create. We recommend not having an expiry date of no more than years.
The Australian Consumer Law (ACL) has been amended to provide protections for gift card consumers across Australia. The law requires that most gift cards or vouchers be sold with a mandatory minimum expiry period of three years. The period begins from the date a gift card is sold to a consumer. Businesses can choose to apply an expiry period longer than three years and no maximum expiry period applies.
How do I keep track of my sales?
You can track how many digital vouchers you’ve sold and the total value of sold vouchers in the Live local app and the Live local portal. You can also track customer name, email address, individual voucher amount, purchase date and redeemed date. You can also redeem gift certificates for customers who’ve lost their voucher.

How do customers redeem vouchers?.
Customers can redeem vouchers in store using the QR code reader in the Live local app, or redeemed over the phone using the Live local app.
Live local provides customers with the option for redeeming either a partial or the full amount of the balance on their digital voucher. Whether your business allows this is at your discretion.
I don’t currently offer vouchers, is that a problem?
Not at all, the Live local platform is open to any business looking to sell digital vouchers for the first time.
How much does it cost to participate?
Live local doesn’t charge for listing on the platform, but there is a flat 2.75% (incl. GST) processing fee for each voucher purchase to facilitate our service. Our aim is to reduce costs as much as possible for any business listing on the platform.
How do I get paid?
Revenue from the sales of digital vouchers can be deposited into any Australian bank account. Payments are made weekly on Fridays for all voucher sales before 5.45pm the previous day.
Can I sell my existing vouchers on Live local?
Yes, this is possible. If you already sell vouchers on your website, we can just link to them for you from your businesses listing on the Live local platform.
