Panoramic views of the harbour don’t get much better than the ones found at Camp Cove. And this secluded little spot just around from Watsons Bay is the perfect place to start your morning run. This particular route is 8km and takes you around the coastline of Vaucluse, passing some iconic landmarks along the way, and landing you back at the beach, ready to jump in the crystal clear ocean.

Leave Camp Cove and run towards The Gap, a peninsula with stunning cliff views all the way to West Head and the best spot to catch the sunrise over the water. Follow the coastline and head onto Old South Head Road where you’ll find the oldest lighthouse in Sydney, Macquarie Lighthouse. Continue on before turning right down some side streets towards Nielsen Park, being sure to pass by Vaucluse House. This beautiful 19th century house has gardens stretching all the way to the waters edge with stunning harbour views. Then keep running a little further down to Nielsen Park and take a moment to appreciate the beauty that is Sydney harbour.

From here, I’ll usually head back to Camp Cove via Parsley Bay Reserve, a tiny hidden beach with the cutest little bridge, though the back streets of Vaucluse, admiring all the incredibly large and beautiful homes on the way, and back to Camp Cove to enjoy a swim in the stunning turquoise waters with Sydney harbour as a backdrop. The views are absolutely breathtaking and a cool dip in the blue water never disappoints on a hot summers morning.

Parking tips:

Parking in the East can be a challenge, but if you’re there early you can grab a spot in the side streets near Camp Cove where you’ll find free 2 hour parking all day. Winner!
